GEO Pricing 2026: What Tools, Agencies and Done-for-You Services Cost
How much GEO costs in 2026: AI visibility tools from $29/month, managed citation placements from $99/month, and GEO agency retainers from $3,000/month, with every price read from the vendor's own site.

Short answer: GEO (generative engine optimization) costs anywhere from $0 to five figures a month, depending on what you buy. AI visibility tools that only measure your gap start at $29/month (Otterly.AI Lite) and mostly sit between $95 and $495/month for brand plans. Agencies that publish a rate card start at about $3,000/month (WebFX, RevenueZen) and run past $10,000/month (Omniscient Digital starts full service at $120,000 a year). In between sit managed placement services like Kollavo, from $99/month, which get your brand onto the third-party sources AI engines cite without a full agency retainer.
The right budget depends on one question: who does the work of closing the gap once a tool shows it to you? Every price below was read from the vendor's own website on October 20, 2026.
GEO pricing at a glance

Prices change often in this category, so treat every figure as a snapshot and check the vendor's page before you buy.
How much do GEO tools cost?
Tools are the cheapest way into GEO because they only do one job: measure how often AI engines mention or cite you for a set of prompts, and who they cite instead. They are priced mainly by the number of prompts (questions) tracked and the number of AI engines included.
| Tool | Entry plan | Prompts at entry | Higher published tiers | Notes from the pricing page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Otterly.AI | $29/month (Lite) | 15 | $189 (100 prompts), $489 (400 prompts) | 4 engines included; Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are paid add-ons. Annual billing: $25, $160, $422/month |
| Peec AI | $95/month (Starter) | 50 | $245 (150 prompts), $495 (350 prompts) | Choose 3 models per plan; Enterprise is custom |
| Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | $99/month | 25 | Extra 50 prompts for $60/month | No free trial on the toolkit; extra domains $99 each |
| Semrush One (SEO + AI) | $199/month (Starter) | 50 | $299 (Pro+, 100 prompts) | Bundles the full SEO suite |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar AI | From $199/month | n/a | Prompt packages from $50/month | Sold standalone or with Ahrefs plans |
| Scrunch | $250/month (Core) | 125 | Enterprise custom | 4 LLMs on Core; 7-day free trial |
| Profound | Free trial | 50 (daily for 7 days) | Enterprise custom | Trial covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews; Enterprise tracks up to 9 answer engines |
Divide the entry price by the prompts included and most tools land close together: about $1.93 per prompt for Otterly Lite, $1.90 for Peec Starter and $2.00 for Scrunch Core. The Semrush toolkit works out at $3.96 per prompt, but you are also paying for its AI research reports.
Three things move the real price more than the sticker:
- Engines. A cheap plan that covers only some engines can miss where your buyers ask. Otterly charges extra for Gemini, AI Mode and Claude. Peec lets you pick 3 models per plan.
- Prompt count. 15 prompts is enough to test the idea, not to cover a category. Covering one usually takes dozens of prompts across use cases, comparisons and "best X for Y" questions.
- Seats, projects and markets. Agencies and multi-brand teams pay for extra projects, domains and countries.
For a closer look at the tools themselves, see our comparison of AI visibility tools, plus the Peec AI alternatives and Otterly.ai alternatives pages.
The catch: a tool tells you which sources AI cites for your competitors. It does not get you onto those sources. As the pricing pages show, that money buys measurement, not the outreach, content and placements that change the result.
How much does a GEO agency cost?
Most GEO agencies do not publish prices. Among those that do, entry retainers start around $3,000/month, and the work usually bundles content, technical fixes, monitoring and some off-site promotion.
| Agency | Published price | Terms and scope (as stated on its site) |
|---|---|---|
| WebFX | $3,000 to $68,250/month across 7 tiers; custom above that | 6-month commitment. Bronze ($3,000) monitors 50 prompts and delivers 3 flexible assets a month; Silver is $5,250, Gold $7,500 |
| RevenueZen | Six tiers: $3,000, $5,000, $7,000, $10,000, $12,000, $15,000/month | $3,000 includes 4 articles and 3 page refreshes a month; link building (4 links/month) starts at the $7,000 tier |
| Obility | SEO & GEO Core $5,450/month, plus add-ons | Content $400/piece, Reddit visibility $2,500/month, brand mentions $1,000/month (publisher fees paid by the client on top), YouTube $1,500/month |
| Omniscient Digital | Full-service engagements from $120,000/year | About $10,000/month; no tiers published |
What drives agency pricing:
- Content volume. The step from $3,000 to $7,000 at RevenueZen is mostly more articles and refreshes (4 a month to 8), plus link building.
- Prompt coverage. WebFX scales its tiers by prompts monitored, from 50 at $3,000 to 2,000 at $68,250.
- Off-site work. Placements, digital PR and Reddit are often add-ons. At Obility, brand mentions are $1,000/month before publisher fees.
- Commitment. A 6-month minimum at WebFX's entry tier means a first commitment of at least $18,000. Omniscient's floor is $120,000 for a year.
Agencies make sense when you need a team: dozens of new pages, technical SEO, PR and reporting for leadership. If your gap is mainly "AI cites the same 20 directories, review sites and articles, and we are not on them," you may be paying for a lot of work you don't need.
What about done-for-you citation placements?
There is a middle option between doing it yourself with a tool and hiring an agency: a service that tracks your AI visibility and then places you on the sources AI already cites. That is what Kollavo sells, and its prices are public on the Kollavo pricing page:
| Kollavo plan | Price | What's included |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | $49/month | Weekly LLM visibility scoring (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Mode), share of voice, citation gap alerts |
| Managed | $99/month | Everything in Entry plus 10 to 15 directory and AI-source submissions a month, a live tracker and a monthly report; first publisher fee covered up to $99 |
| Autopilot 4 | $549/month | 4 placements a month, any source up to $175 covered |
| Autopilot 8 | $999/month | 8 placements a month, any source up to $175 covered |
| Autopilot 12 | $1,399/month | 12 placements a month, any source up to $200 covered |
On Autopilot, that works out to $137.25 per placement on the 4-placement plan, $124.88 on 8 and $116.58 on 12, publisher fees included up to each plan's cap. Entry and Managed are cancel-anytime, with no long-term contract. Paid placements outside a plan are only ever priced recommendations: nothing is bought without your approval.
This route fits teams whose main gap is off-site: AI recommends competitors because they appear on review sites, directories, listicles and trade articles that you are missing from. It does not replace an agency if you also need a full content and technical program. You can see how this compares with the main tools on our compare page.
Is GEO worth paying for at all?
Some of it you can do for free. Google says there are "no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, nor other special optimizations necessary," and that you don't need new machine-readable files or special schema to appear (Google Search Central). Good SEO fundamentals are the base for every engine.
What you pay for is the work around those fundamentals:
- Measurement. Knowing which prompts matter and who AI cites for them. Search Console counts AI Overviews and AI Mode traffic inside overall "Web" search results and doesn't cover ChatGPT or Perplexity, so you need prompt tracking to see results by engine.
- Off-site presence. AI engines lean heavily on third-party pages. Getting onto them takes outreach, listings and content placements, which is labor.
- Content built to be quoted. Clear answers, sourced figures and comparison pages. The GEO research paper from Princeton and IIT Delhi found that adding citations, quotations and statistics lifted visibility in generated answers by 30% to 40% on its benchmark (Aggarwal et al., KDD 2024).
If you have the time and a writer, a tool plus your own effort can work. If you don't, you are choosing between paying for labor through a placement service or through an agency.
How to budget for GEO

- Get a free baseline. Run the free AI audit or the LLM visibility score to see where you stand before you pay anything.
- Find the gap. Use the citation gap audit to list the pages AI cites for competitors but not for you. The size of that list tells you how much off-site work you need.
- Pick the cheapest option that closes the gap. Small gap and in-house time: a $29 to $99 tool. Mostly off-site gap: managed placements from $99/month. Big content and technical backlog: an agency from $3,000/month.
- Ask what is excluded. Publisher and placement fees, extra engines, extra prompts and minimum terms can double the headline price.
- Re-measure monthly. Track the same prompts every month. Our guide to measuring AI visibility explains which metrics to watch.

Questions to ask before you sign
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Which AI engines are included, and which cost extra? | Add-on engines can raise a tool's price well above the entry plan |
| How many prompts are tracked, and how often? | 15 prompts checked weekly is a test; 100 checked daily is a program |
| Are publisher or placement fees included? | Some retainers bill them on top, like Obility's brand mentions add-on |
| What is the minimum term? | 6 months at $3,000 is an $18,000 commitment |
| What do you deliver each month? | Articles, placements and fixes are what move citations; reports alone don't |
| How will results be reported? | Insist on per-engine citation and mention data for the same prompts over time |

Start free. Kollavo's AI audit and Profound's trial cost nothing. The cheapest paid tracker we found is Otterly.AI Lite at $29/month for 15 prompts.
How much do GEO agencies charge?
Among agencies with public rate cards, WebFX and RevenueZen start at $3,000/month, Obility's SEO & GEO core is $5,450/month and Omniscient Digital's full-service engagements start at $120,000 a year. Most GEO agencies do not publish prices at all.
Is GEO more expensive than SEO?
Not necessarily. Many agencies sell GEO inside SEO retainers, and Google says there are no special requirements for AI Overviews beyond SEO fundamentals. The extra cost comes from prompt tracking and off-site placement work.
